Music, especially singing, is my passion in life. I love expressing myself through a wide variety of genres from pop, classical and religious songs. That is why joining the Miriam College High School glee club means a lot to me.
From the day I auditioned in first year to our most recent performances, everything I have learned was very important. It taught me courage because the club required me to have it for the auditions. Joining the club showed me the best way to develop my talent. First and foremost, it was my way of thanking God for the talent He gave me. On the other hand, I knew that the glee club, as one of the prestigious clubs in our school, entails a lot of time and effort in order to bring out the best in its members. I knew that joining the club would consume my time and keep me from studying. Surprisingly, it did otherwise. I was able to balance my time with my family, school, glee club, friends, and even Church activities.
I learned a lot of things from joining the club. It helped me practice discipline, perseverance, hard work and teamwork. Discipline was essential for us to be organized and always be on time, especially when we have a performance. I was able to practice this discipline in my everyday life. Perseverance and hard work are much needed for us to be able to accomplish our tasks and perform our songs well. I was also able to give my best in everything that I did. Most of all, I learned how to work as a member of a team. Besides memorizing the songs individually, the success of the performance depends on how we sound together as one. If one member is missing, the harmony of the song will not be as pleasing as when the choir is complete. That is where teamwork comes in. A harmonious relationship between the members produces a harmonious sound as well. This showed me the importance of each one of us in this world.
The glee club with our moderator, Ms. Nancy Roman, and my club mates aided my development as a person. Loving the glee club and committing myself to it defined me as a person. I, my family and friends will forever be proud that I am a part of the MCHS glee club. With all that I have been through and enough knowledge I have, I am definitely ready to face more “glee club auditions” and be able to “sing” as I perform in a whole new stage called college.
favorite line ko ung naka bold! :P
